The historic centre of Porto Maurizio rises high on a characteristic promontory overlooking Imperia and the sea.
Park your car in Piazza del Duomo (you can also arrive by tourist minibus from Borgo Marina) and visit the 'Basilica di San Maurizio e Compagni Martiri'. the largest church in Ligurianeoclassical style, built at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Take the ascent following the path "Turn Parasio"indicated by the signs scattered around the streets of the medieval village. The district is almost entirely pedestrianised, you will feel as if you are losing yourself in the tangle of carùggithe alleys that weave the main road. At every corner you will find something to admire: churches, historical buildings, inimitable views of the sea and the valley. By the way, you cannot miss the Loggias of St ClareThe walk along the arcade, between those arches, with a breathtaking sea view is truly priceless.
Make sure you are there at sunset time for great photos in a truly romantic setting.
